On REALConnect:
If you see a Device State in REALConnect for Training Mode, this means your AED has a Training Cartridge installed and is not Emergency Ready. To ensure your device is ready for emergency use, always keep an Avive AED Pad Cartridge inserted while you are not actively using your device for training purposes.
On your device:
If your device is in Training Mode, you will see an exclamation mark notification on the home screen of your Avive Connect AED reminding you that a Training Cartridge is installed and that you need to insert an Avive AED Pad Cartridge. Additionally, the Status Light on the top of your device will blink red and the device will beep at the top of each hour to remind you that it needs manual attention.
To ensure your device is Emergency Ready, remove the Training Cartridge and install an Avive AED Pad Cartridge.
How long will the training pads in my Avive AED Training Cartridge last?
The training pads of your Avive AED Training Cartridge are designed to last up to 25 times in most training settings. Estimated usage can vary depending on the type of training you are conducting.
With purchase of the Avive AED Training Pad Replacement Pack, you can expect to get about 125 training uses out of it.
What is Training Mode for my Avive Connect AED and how do I use it?
By simply swapping out the Avive AED Pad Cartridge for the the Avive AED Training Cartridge, you can easily convert your Avive Connect AED into a fully functional training unit. This allows you to run realistic simulations and training exercises with the same device you can use to save a life.
When a training cartridge is installed, there is no electrical connection between the training pads and your device. In Training Mode, the Avive Connect AED provides audio and visual instructions as if it were being used in an emergency; however, the device will not actually analyze a heart rhythm or deliver defibrillation therapy. The Training Mode audio instructions are for user training only.
How do I advance the prompts on my Avive Connect AED while in Training Mode?
The Avive Connect AED's prompts will need to be manually advanced when in Training Mode. To do so, press the "Pads Placed" button on the screen of the device once you have placed the pads in Training Mode.
Can I use Training Mode without training pads?
You must install an Avive AED Training Cartridge in order to use the device in Training Mode.
With the training pads, there is no electrical connection between the pads and the Avive Connect AED, which means it cannot actually analyze a heart rhythm or deliver a shock while in Training Mode.
Can the Avive Connect AED deliver a shock while in Training Mode?
When a Training Cartridge is installed, there is no electrical connection between the training pads and the Avive Connect AED. In Training Mode, the device provides audio and visual instructions as if it were being used in an emergency; however, the device will not analyze a heart rhythm or deliver defibrillation therapy. The audio instructions in Training Mode are for user training only. The Training Cartridge is for training only and cannot deliver therapy.
It is recommended that the Avive Connect AED is stored with an Avive AED Pad Cartridge installed and that the Training Cartridge is removed after training is completed.
How do I replace the training pads in my Avive AED Training Cartridge?
Replacing the training pads in your Avive AED Training Cartridge is simple - just prepare your cartridge for the swap, and follow the steps below. To download these instructions and see pictures, click here.
To prepare your cartridge for the pad swap:
- Remove the Avive AED Training Cartridge from the Avive Connect AED
- Pull the blue Training Tray out of the Training Cartridge
- Remove the gray Training Tray lid.
Now, follow the steps below to replace your worn training pads!
1. Loosen the Pad String - pull up on the small loop created by the black string until the loop grows in diameter enough to fit the training pads through.
2. Remove the training pads - first, pass the training pads through the loop created in Step 1. Then, pull the black string completely out of the hole on the blue Training Tray and discard used training pads.
3. Prepare the new training pads - get your new training pads and fold the red and blue pads down so that the artwork on the training pads faces the outside. Locate the center of the black string.
4. Install New Training Pads - pass the center of the black string through the hole on the upper right corner of the blue training tray and create a loop big enough to fit the training pads through.
5. Secure New Training Pads - pass the training pads through the loop created in step 4.
Pull the black string on the training pads until the loop is tight on the blue training tray.
Finally, re-install your Avive AED Training Cartridge into the Avive Connect AED by placing the black string inside the blue training tray and placing the training tray inside the Pad Cartridge. Install the Training Cartridge on the Avive Connect AED.
