You can customize the Power Mode settings on your Avive Connect AED to tailor your devices's connectivity performance depending on your desired use.
Low Power Mode is designed to help you conserve the screen and connectivity battery on your Avive Connect AED. In Low Power Mode, Nearby Emergency Alerts and other functionalities will only be available when the device is connected to a charger. The battery dedicated to use of the screen power and internet connectivity features will typically last 9-12 months in Low Power Mode.
High Power Mode is intended to help you receive faster Nearby Emergency Alerts if you live in a 4 Minute Community or PAD+ community. It also optimizes the responsiveness of your device's connectivity features, such as Nearby Emergency Alerts, Refresh Location, Lost Mode, and more. The battery dedicated to use of the screen power and internet connectivity features will typically last 2-3 months in High Power Mode.
How to adjust your Power Mode Setting
To update the Power Mode Settings on your Avive Connect AED, navigate to Settings > Power on your device’s screen. Select your desired Power Mode.
To update the Power Mode Settings for your devices remotely, you can do so from REALConnect™ if you are a user with Administrator permissions. Ensure that your devices are operating on Connectivity Software 2.5 or above to receive the Power Mode settings remotely.
Step 1: In REALConnect, navigate to Organization Settings > Fleet Settings > and scroll down to view Power Modes.
Step 2: Click the blue “Edit” button, and make your selection. Check the “Apply settings to all devices” box to send the Power Mode to all AEDs in your fleet. Leaving this box unchecked means the setting applies only to new devices added to your organization.
Step 3: To receive the Power Mode selection, your devices must sync with REALConnect™, which should happen during your devices’ next nightly self tests. Allow at least 24 hours for your devices to receive the Power Mode settings. To sync your settings right away, navigate to the “Your Device” menu on the screen of your Avive Connect AED and press “Sync Now.”
Important Note: Low Power and High Power Mode only refer to the settings that power your screen and internet connectivity. They have no impact on your device's ability to administer treatment. Your lifesaving AED battery will still last up to 8.5 months until Battery Low, regardless of your Power Mode configuration.
Will keeping my Avive Connect AED plugged in negatively impact or drain its batteries?
The Avive Connect AED is designed and tested to remain connected to a charger for extended perids of time. You can leave it continuously plugged into a power outlet and the battery will not be adversely impacted. Keeping the Avive Connect AED connected to a charger will maximize its connectivity features and help ensure that it's always ready for emergency use.
How long does it take to fully charge my Avive Connect AED?
The Avive Connect AED contains power-packed rechargeable batteries that never needs to be replaced. One battery powers your device's Screen and Connectivity features, and the other battery powers the lifesaving AED function.
It takes less than 6 hours to fully charge your Avive Connect AED. When your device is fully charged, its Status Light will quickly blink twice every 15 seconds.
How often can I charge my Avive Connect AED?
The Avive Connect AED can be charged day and night continuously. The device can remain connected to a charger for extended periods of time, and its batteries have been tested and certified to ensure they cannot be overcharged.
How do I charge my Avive Connect AED?
Step 1: Connect the Avive USB Power Adapter to the Avive USB Charging Cable.
Step 2: Plug the Avive USB Power Adapter into an outlet.
Step 3: Plug the USB Charging Cable into the Avive AED.
When your device is charging, the Status Light will blink once every second.
When your device is fully charged, its Status Light will quickly blink twice every 15 seconds.

- The best way to prevent a low battery is to store the Avive AED in room temperature conditions, connected to the Avive USB Power Adapter with the Avive USB Charging Cable.

How long is my Avive Connect AED’s battery life?
The Avive Connect AED’s typical battery life is 8-12 Months if your device is on the latest software version*.
The Avive Connect AED features a unique dual battery system, making it the only AED in the industry with embedded rechargeable batteries that never need to be replaced. This innovative design includes two separate batteries: one dedicated to powering the AED’s critical lifesaving functions, and the other to powering the Screen & Internet Connectivity services. The dual battery system ensures that the device’s lifesaving capabilities are not compromised, even during prolonged use of the Screen & Internet Connectivity features. This thoughtful engineering maximizes reliability and gives you months of battery life before needing to recharge your devices.
The battery dedicated to the AED’s critical lifesaving functions will last up to 8.5 Months until Low Battery at nominal conditions. At Low Battery, the AED can deliver 10 shocks at 150J, or 20 minutes of continuous operation.
The battery dedicated to use of the screen power and internet connectivity features will typically last 9-12 months in Low Power Mode. Devices that are connected to Wi-Fi typically have a longer Screen & Internet Connectivity battery life when compared to devices using cellular.

Can I use a generic charger with my Avive Connect AED?
Only use accessories approved by Avive for use with the Avive Connect AED.
Use the Avive USB Power Adapter and Avive USB Charging Cable for guaranteed charging performance. Using unauthorized accessories may void Avive’s warranty.
What type of outlet do I need to charge my Avive Connect AED?
The Avive Connect AED can be charged in any regular outlet with standard US Voltage, 120V. In other words, charge the Avive Connect AED in the same outlet you use to charge your computer or mobile device.
How long does it take to fully charge my Avive Portable Power Bank?
Because the Avive Portable Power Bank provides years of battery life extension for your Avive Connect AED, it takes many hours until full charge. Please leave your Avive Portable Power Bank plugged in for a full day (24 hours) before storing with your Avive Connect AED.
Note: You can view the battery percentage of your Avive Portable Power Bank on the display window in the top left hand corner of your accessory.
How long is my Avive Connect AED's battery life when used with the Avive Portable Power Bank?
If your Avive Connect AED is set to Low Power Mode, the Avive Portable Power Bank provides your Avive Connect AED with up to 2.5 years of battery life.
If your Avive Connect AED is set to High Power Mode because you live in a 4 Minute Community or PAD+ community, the power bank provides your device with a battery life of up to 1 year.
Please note, these estimates assume that both your Avive Connect AED and Avive Portable Power Bank are fully charged before storage and are used in nominal conditions.
How do I use the Avive Portable Power Bank with my Avive Connect AED?
The Avive Portable Power Bank is an accessory you can use to extend the battery life of your Avive Connect AED. If you are using your Avive Connect AED in Low Power Mode, the Power Bank will extend its battery life up to 5 years. If you are using your Avive Connect AED in High Power Mode its battery will last approximately 1 year when using the Power Bank.
To set up your Avive Portable Power Bank, follow the steps below:
- First, fully charge both your Avive Connect AED and Power Bank.*
- Secondly, connect the USB-C charging cable on your Power Bank to your Avive Connect AED.
- Thirdly, turn on Power Bank Mode on your Avive Connect AED by navigating to Settings > Power Mode > toggle Power Bank Mode ON via the screen of your Avive Connect AED.
- NOTE: Your Avive Connect AED must be operating on Connectivity Software version 2.1 or higher to use Power Bank Mode.
When the battery of your Power Bank is depleted, REALConnect will let you know by displaying a Power Bank Depleted tag on your AEDs’ Detail page.
When it’s time to recharge your Power Bank:
Note, your Power Bank will take approximately 24 hours to fully charge. You can view the battery percentage by pressing the display button on the top left hand corner of your Power Bank.
- First, unplug the Power Bank cable from the USB-C port on the Power Bank.
- Second, connect the USB-C end of the same charger you use to charge your Avive Connect AED to the USB-C port on the Power Bank. Connect the other end of the cable to a wall adapter and plug your Power Bank into a wall outlet.
- Let charge until the Power Bank reaches 100% battery. You can check the battery percentage for your Power Bank by pressing the display button on the top left hand corner of your Power Bank.
- Once the Power Bank is fully charged, unplug the charging cable and reconnect the Power Bank Cable into the USB-C port on your Power Bank.
How do I select or change a Power Mode on my Avive Connect AED?
You can see which Power Mode your Avive Connect AED is set to by checking either on your device's screen or in your REALConnect Platform.
On Your Device:
On your device's Home Screen, navigate to Settings > Power to view or update your device’s Power Mode settings.
In REALConnect:
Select a specific AED you’d like to view and navigate to the AED Detail Page in your REALConnect Platform. On the right-side column of the AED Detail page, you will see its Power Mode displayed. Please note that the power setting cannot be changed in REALConnect, you will need to update it on your device.
What is Power Bank Mode on my Avive Connect AED?
Power Bank Mode is a function you should only enable if you are using your device with the Avive Portable Power Bank or Avive Power Case. If you are not using these accessories, do NOT toggle on Power Bank Mode.
Power Bank Mode allows your Avive Connect AED to be compatible with the Avive Portable Power Bank orand Avive Power Case. These accessories extend the battery life of your Avive Connect AEDs and are particularly useful if you store your devices away from traditional power outlets.
Note: When Power Bank Mode is ON, the screen will not power on when plugged into a charger. Press the black display button to power on your screen.
Why should I keep my device on Low Power Mode?
Low Power Mode is designed to help you conserve the screen and connectivity battery on your Avive Connect AED. Emergency Nearby Alerts and other functionalities will only be available when the device is connected to a charger if your device is in Low Power Mode. If you are looking to maximize the screen and connectivity battery life for your Avive Connect AED (most users), we recommend keeping your device in Low Power Mode.
In Low Power Mode, when not connected to a charger, your device will only update its location and status once a day during its daily Self-Test. Your device will, similarly, only be responsive to the Lost Mode or Refresh Location features in your REALConnect Platform when it updates once per per day.
Note: Low Power and High Power Mode only refer to the settings for your screen and connectivity battery. They have no impact on your device’s treatment capabilities. Your lifesaving AED battery will still last 8.5 months regardless of your Power Mode configuration.
If my device is in Low Power Mode, are any of my features limited?
If you are looking to maximize the screen and connectivity battery life for your Avive Connect AED, we recommend keeping your device in Low Power Mode.
When in Low Power Mode and not connected to a charger, your device will only update its location and status once a day during its daily Self-Test. Similarly, your device will only be responsive to the Lost Mode or Refresh Location features in your REALConnect Platform when it updates once per day.
However, if your device is plugged into its charger while in Low Power Mode, it will continue to respond to Lost Mode and Refresh Location.
What type of battery does my Avive Connect AED have?
Like most modern electronic equipment, the Avive Connect AED uses Lithium-ion batteries that are rechargeable. The Avive Connect AED is the only FDA-approved AED with an embedded rechargeable battery, and it will last throughout the life of the device.
